The Rock Churches of Lalibela, Carved into the Stone

The Simien Mountains and the Edge of the Great Rift
The Simien Mountains, in the north of the highlands, are a national park of staggering scale, a series of giant table mountains and sheer drop-offs that fall from the plateau into the deep valleys of the lowlands below.
